*Tonight I am going to see Neil Diamond - can’t wait!
*Yesterday Emily was watching TV while I was getting ready. I heard her say “I changed the button myself!”. I figured she meant she changed the channel with the remote herself. Well, she did do that - unfortunately she also somehow managed to order an “On Demand” movie for $4.99. And doubly unfortunate it wasn’t a movie I wanted to see.
*It’s early August but the PTA is already looking for volunteers for the school year. Shoot me now, I agreed to head up movie night at our elementary school in late September. Maybe someone else will have beaten me to the punch and already been slotted in to chair the committee?!
*We hit the tax free sales last weekend and bought all necessary school supplies. We also took advantage of the cheap prices to buy extra boxes of crayons. We’ll use those as goody bag favors at Emily’s 3rd birthday in the Fall. I mean really, $0.17 for a box of 24 Crayolas? You can’t pass that up! It’s also a good time of year to buy stocking stuffers - if you’re thinking that far in advance. Lots of good deals on supplies like that now.
*Friday my brother and sister-in-law fly in from England for a couple of weeks. We’re really looking forward to seeing them - especially Abby who is beside herself with anticipation. They won’t be staying with us but we’ll see them quite a bit I hope!
*Next week I’m taking Abby to see the American Idols Live concert. We scored some free tickets and it should be fun. Emily wants to go and keeps talking about David Cook - which is pretty funny she remembers his name at all!
*Our dog is mostly recovered from her ear infections and skin problems. She will be on medicine for another month though. She’s a furry pill popper these days! In other dog news, the yappy one that lives behind us has been quiet so we haven’t felt the need to address the yapping! Hopefully we’ve dodged an uncomfortable conversation.
*I am in the process of updating my way out of day blogroll. Yes, I know it’s not in alphabetical order but it will be eventually. If you don’t see yourself listed there, or you are listed incorrectly, please let me know. I haven’t updated it in over a year - yes, I know, bad blogger.
When your mother, father, grandmother, grandpa, teacher, etc tells you NOT to climb UP the slide, because you might slip and hurt yourself, listen to them. Just ask Emily.
As her teacher told her to get down, Emily lost her footing and smacked the side of her face/eye on the side of the slide. Nice shiner huh? It is almost all gone now and the accident happened over 2 weeks ago. To add insult to injury the next day one of her “friends” scratched her on the other side of her face. She really looked like she had been beaten up. Thank goodness we had the accident reports from daycare to prove what happened!
Oh my gosh, where has the week gone? Thank you all very much for your ideas on how to handle the barking dog situation. We haven’t done anything yet - it’s been a crazy, hectic week and we just haven’t had the time or inclination to handle it yet. But last night, said dog started up again and if I wasn’t in my PJs and home alone with the kids I would have walked over. Anyhow, I imagine this weekend we’ll try and get that resolved. Maybe we’ll see the owners outside and can have a more casual conversation about it. I am beginning to wonder if they aren’t home with all the barking goes on so maybe they don’t know? Anyhow, thanks for your suggestions!
I haven’t felt like posting much this week - mainly because I haven’t had the time or energy. And when I have free time I want to watch TV or read. What’s going on you ask? Nothing really all that exciting - just life. Emily & I have colds. She is up sometimes at night because of it. I have been relying on a delicious cocktail of cough syrup w/codeine and Sudafed to get myself to sleep. Emily has also started waking up at night when she has to potty. This is great - she’s learning to wake up but at the same point it’s a tad frustrating because this is not a great week to go without less sleep! My husband was in a training class for 3 days which required him to leave the house at the ass crack of dawn and return later than usual. I also had a work dinner this week plus another night we were all out for hubby’s birthday. Abby was so tired that night she almost fell asleep at the dinner table. Throw in “life maintenance” activities (laundry, camp related stuff, etc) and I’m just done. I’m so ready for the weekend!
Speaking of the weekend I might actually get to play a Wii! We have some friends coming over for dinner tomorrow night and they are probably going to bring their Wii. I’m really curious to try it out and see what all the buzz is about. It’s also the tax free shopping weekend here in VA so tonight we’re going to try and buy Abby’s school supplies and some Fall clothes - if everyone isn’t too tired. We’d rather go tonight and try and beat the Saturday crowds. Plus if we get it out of the way tonight that’s more time we can spend at the pool tomorrow! : )
I still have to post about part 2 of our vacation and meeting fabulous Mel. I’m going to try and get that done this weekend. Plus I have some pics of Emily’s latest injury - which is finally almost healed. She managed to give herself a nice black eye at school (and the next day she was scratched in the face by a “friend”). Poor thing looked like she had been beaten up! Anyhow, hopefully more posts (and more exciting ones) to come next week! Pinky swear!
